    Question

Hi, I have been self injuring for a few month now, and it feels so good to be able to relieve myself this way, all the worlds issues just seem to fade away while I do this? what should I do in the future about this? I'm sort of worried about myself, I've found a community on the web where people can relate to myself, and I feel finally accepted here. .... tell me what you think.

    Answer

Self-injury means that you have symptoms of depression and is not an effective way of resolving your feelings. You are right to be concerned about continuing this behavior, because it can become a habit and make matters worse. The fact that you have found a community on the Web that you can relate to means that you are a good candidate for counseling. It can help you to talk to a trained professional who understands your feelings and can help you learn other ways of getting relief and acceptance.
