Question
The doctor said that I have an umbilical cyst? What is that and does it mean I'm pregnant?
Answer
An umbilical cyst is a fluid-filled structure near the umbilicus (your belly button) that is a result of incomplete closure of urachus or vitellointestinal duct after a person is born. These are tubes that worked while a person is a fetus with the umbilical cord attached to the mother. The umbilical cyst may not cause symptoms but may potentially cause pain or become infected. You need to talk to your doctor if your umbilical cyst is causing any problems.
