    Question

Hello, I am 20 and married. I have had one sex partner for the past three years. I stopped taking my birth control two months ago and have not been using condoms (we are hoping to get pregnant). Last month I had a two week period and this month had a couple days of spotting and now my discharge is thick and brown with a bit of a smell to it. I have taken a pregnancy test and it was negative. Should I get checked or wait another week and test again? My husband and myself have not had an STD or any kind of infections in the past. Please help!

    Answer

Given that you are trying to get pregnant, I would get checked for sexually transmitted infections unless you are 100% sure that neither you or your partner have ever had another sexual partner.
