Question
I used to be 55kg but i have gradually dropped down to 45kg. I am concerned coz it just keeps going down even though i try to eat lots and stay healthy. I have tried eating fatty foods, and gain weight drinks without success. I dont even enjoy eating.. i often just dont have an appetite but i still force myself to eat so i dont have an eating disorder or anything. I am in the 'very underweight' range, i have a low self esteem, and i was wondering if there is anything Doctors can suggest/prescribe that will help me gain weight?
Answer
Greetings, You sound like you are having a hard time. My first suggestion would be to make an appointment with your doctor as then are physical problems that can affect your appetite and weight. Your doctor will probably run some tests. Another possibility is depression. Sometimes our bodies develop physical symptoms from depression such as a loss of appetite and a lack of enjoyment of many aspects of life. I would encourage you to tell you doctor that you feel that you have low self esteem and are concerned. If you don't feel comfortable with the doctor you have you might ask to change to a different one. You found the courage to write to us so keep that courage going until you can find someone you trust to help you understand what is going on. Good Luck!
