    Question

how often do women get pregnant while using a IUD?

    Answer

It's very rare for someone to get pregnant while using the IUD. If 1000 women use the IUD for one year, one will get pregnant, compared to the pill where of 100 women in a year, 3-5 will get pregnant.

Some IUD's stop your period. Usually we recommend that you do a pregnancy test the first time you miss a period, but after that you can assume it is due to the IUD.
