    Question

My daughter is 13 years old. She stays overnight at her father's place on alternative weekends. Her father lets her sleep on a futon only. I have a concern about her back health in the long run.

    Answer

Unless your daughter has a specific back problem that is aggravated by this, sleeping on a futon should not harm her.

As for your stress level, I understand that divorce and sharing custody can be heart breaking for you, but you need to let him parent the way he parents and try to stay out of it. A book about these types of battles that might help is called Mom's House, Dad's House. Your daughter is 13 - and if the sleeping arrangement is bothering her, encourage her to talk to her dad about alternatives. Good luck!
