    Question

Will topamax decrease the effects of Loesterin 24fe? I heard it might and I took the morning after pill to be safe? Am I ok?

    Answer

Topamax CAN decrease the effects of Loestrin 24Fe by lowering the amount of hormone in Loestrin and other estrogen and/or progestin-containing birth control pills. If you took the morning-after pill within a few days of having sex, you are unlikely to become pregnant. Morning-after pills (like Plan B) are most effective when started within 72 hours, but may still be effective beyond that (up to 5 days after unprotected sex). While taking Topamax, the safest thing to do to prevent pregnancy is to use a back-up method that does not contain hormones. Examples of nonhormonal contraceptives include condoms and diaphragms.
