Does the birth control pill cause a change in skin pigment - every since I switched to Yaz I have developed a kind of freckle mustache and some dark spots around my eyes I never had before
Answer
Birth control pills can cause melasma, which is basically increased pigmentation in certain areas of the face. This is thought to be due to estrogen contained in most ocps. This increased pigmentation will resolve itself within a few months once you stop taking birth control pills.
