    Question

What is an appropriate volume to listen to an mp3 player?

    Answer

The general 'rule of thumb' is that you have to be able to hear what is going on around you. Another way is to never go above 80% of the highest setting. So, if you could go to 10, you should not go above 8 - and if you do listen at the full volume - you could be doing damage after five minutes. Be careful and glad you asked!
