Question
Is it normal for a 11-year-old African-American girl to have a discharge with minor itch? Is this a sign of starting her menstrual cycle? Is it age or weight that determines when your cycle starts?
Answer

It would not be unusual for an 11-year-old to get her period. The age at which you get your period is determined by your mom's history, your size and your weight. The discharge sounds normal, the itch might suggest you see a doctor. Stay clean and go to a doctor if you are worried.
