Question
I have hemorrhoids and I'm about to get them cut out. I just wanted to know if there's a good chance of getting them again after surgery.
Answer
Hemorrhoids are dilated veins in the anal region, often due to constipation, diarrhea, prolonged sitting (or standing), straining, etc. After having your hemorrhoids removed, there's a chance of getting new ones in the future. However, you can minimize the risk for developing new hemorrhoids by eating a high fiber diet, drinking plenty of fluids, avoid prolonged sitting, and avoid straining when you have bowel movements.
