    Question

My boyfriend and I are getting condoms and plan to have sex next month. I'm still scared I might get pregnant, but I can't get on birth control or my mom will find out. Will I be protected enough with just the condom?

    Answer

Condoms are only as effective as the person using them. It is important to use them correctly - http://www.pamf.org/teen/sex/birthcontrol/condom.html Using another method in addition to condoms would be better. You can get birth control at Planned Parenthood, but I want to encourage you to really think about whether you are ready to start being sexual and take the risks associated with that decision. If your partner truly loves and respects you, he will wait until you are ready to start birtth control, have that conversation with your mom and risk sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy.
