    Question

I am 12 years old. About 4'9 and I weigh about 80 pounds. I have this clear gooey stuff coming out of my vagina. What is happening. What is it? I have also had lower back pains and been eating lots.

    Answer

Well the clear gooey stuff is likely what we call fertile mucus, and it happens around the time you ovulate (let an egg go from your ovaries). Its purpose is to help any sperm get to the egg and make a baby -- which obviously is not your goal! Chances are good that you are getting ready to start your period, so print an annual calendar and keep track of the back pain, clear gooey stuff, headaches, and rapid mood swings (or wanting to bite people's heads off) and chances are excellent that you will start to see a pattern. Sooner or later, your period will start. Good luck -- it is all good!
