Question
my teen son is very moody, he is always mad and whenever he is asked to do anything around the house he always has an attitude. is this normal or should i be concerned
Answer
Dear Mom
Teenagers can definitely be very moody, irritable, and oppositional due to the intense physical and emotional changes they are undergoing. It does sound like it would be importnat to understand more about why he reacts with such an attitude, however, because there may be a better way to communicate with him or motivate him to do as you ask. At this age kids are much harder to control and the best way of getting him to cooperate is to improve the relationship. If this is too difficult to do alone, seek some consultation from a family therapist who can give you some good parent coaching and suggestions.
