    Question

Hi. I have a 11-year-old daughter with cramps in her stomach just below her belly button. She also has a clear mucas in her underwear every day. Could it be the start of her periods?

    Answer

Chances are good, and 11 is pretty normal these days. Some peditricians will suggest you try Midol, Pamperin or Motrin to see if it helps -- even pre-period. Her hormonal cycle is happening for about a year before she actually begins to have periods. It is always fine to call and chat with your doctor, too.
