Question
Each time I visit the doctor, they keep telling me to get Gardasil. I'm not sure what to do. I'm only in eighth grade and honestly do not plan on becoming sexually active at all any time soon. My mom says she's worried about the side-effects, but she also doesn't want me to contract HPV, since our doctor said you can get it just by touching someone sitting next to you. What is HPV, how is it passed on, and how can Gardasil help?

The CDC recommends that girls get the vaccine before they even consider being sexually active, and now boys can get the shots, too. Here is a page with a lot of information:
