    Question

I'm always annoyed at everyone in my house. I'm also really tired and sometimesIi feel like hurting myself, but never have the guts to do it. I get so angry and stressed at my family. The only time I'm happy is when I'm at school or out with my friends. What should I do?

    Answer

Reaching out for help when you feel miserable instead of hurting yourself truly takes guts. Feeling tired and angry occasionally is part of life, but feeling that way all the time is a warning sign. Usually it means that there are more problems or stresses than a person can manage. Although people often think of depression as sadness, anger, tiredness, and thoughts of self-harm are also very common signs of depression. There are many kinds of help available, but the first step is to tell someone--your parents, your school counselor, your doctor, any adult who can get you the kind of support you need. I hope you do so soon, so that you can begin to feel better.
