    Question

When should a girl go to the gyno for the first time?

    Answer

Well, there are multiple opinions. Some say within three years of becoming sexually active, or at 21, whichever comes first. However, most young women get a sexually transmitted infection within the first year of becoming sexually active. Therefore, we say see your doctor right after becoming sexually active and every year after that. This way you can start a reliable method of birth control, get the "always use condoms talk," and be screened for HIV and other STIs.
