    Question

I've never had sex with my boyfriend but we have experimented with a few things. I'm still a virgin but my mom doesn't believe us and she's making me get "checked" to be sure I'm not having sex. I don't know how other than a gynecologist and she didn't even tell me about this first, she told my boyfriend's mother during a lunch. What should I do?

    Answer

First, I am so sorry that you and your mom are having such a difficult time communicating and that she does not trust you. If you are open, I would suggest you find a family counselor who can help. Teen years are tough and having a mom you can talk to would make things so much easier!

Second, check out the Planned Parenthood.org site and find out what the law is in your state. In CA, the law is that a doctor cannot share anything about your reproductive health without your permission! If your mom is going to make the appointment, you can call the office in advance and explain the situation to the nurse and ask what the doctor will do. I hope they will not even do an exam against your will.

    Good luck.
