    Question

When your IUD is up in five years, what happens if you don?t get it taken out right away? How long do you have?

    Answer

We know it is effective for five years. At some point after that it becomes ineffective--I can't find ANY information on how long that is. If you have an IUD that has been in for more then five years, I would recommend you start using condoms as well.
