    Question

I'm 14. My mom and dad are separated and I live with my mom. My dad hasn't been there for me and my little half sister, who I love to death. However, she has a different mom and lives with her. All of a sudden my dad wants my little sister. So he got the court to let him take my my little siter away from her mom. They don't know my dad. He's a liar and drinks too much, but they didn't see that in him that day. Since me and my dad have been fighting, he won't let me see my sister at all. I miss her so much, she's the only good thing in my life and he's making me lose her. What should I do, lie to my dad and say I forgive him for every thing hes done to me (which I could nver do)? I don't know what to do. I just want to see my little sister again.

    Answer

I am so sorry that you are missing out on time with your little sister and are in the middle of this legal battle. Sadly, sometimes parents cannot put the needs of children in front of their own. Chances are good that there are lawyers and advocates involved in this legal battle and I would encourage you to get a name and call them. You are 14 and should be consulted. A lawyer can help you figure this out. It sounds like you could use a counselor to talk with, too, so talk to someone at your school, or your doctor to get help finding one. Good luck!
