    Question

My mom just walked in on me and my boyfriend having sex. What should I say to her?

    Answer

Well, she is likely thinking the same thing. I think it would be good to ask her if she is ready to talk and go someplace where you can be alone, not get disturbed and talk it through. She may be very sad and/or disappointed, so I vote you start. You could start with I am sorry that I did not lock the door and that we are having this talk this way. I am hoping you can tell her that this was not something you took lightly, and you are using an effective method of birth control as well as condoms to prevent seually transmitted infections. If not, ask her if she will help you learn how to make an appointment with your doctor to start on birth control. Go easy on her. It is not easy for moms to learn this news. I hope she is willing to help you be safe, but do not expect her to think it is a great idea.
