    Question

Is staying up late and sleeping in on holidays bad for your health? Like 2 a.m. to 12 p.m.?

    Answer

Well it all depends. If you are severely sleep deprived going into the holidays, you may need a lot of extra sleep, but it is better to go to bed at your usual bedtime and sleep later in the morning. Doing that a few days should help you feel better and you should start getting up earlier. A 16-year-old needs eight to ten hours of sleep a night, and most people feel better if they get it. On the other hand, if you are depressed and sleeping this much, it is cause for concern. Much depends on your natural sleeping patterns - you may be a night owl.
