    Question

I am 14 my boyfriend wants to have sex. I do too. Should we?

    Answer

Oh, please don't! I am glad you reached out and asked though! At 14, I hope you have so many other things to experience and enjoy, as well as a whole to life to plan, that you decide that school, family and friends are enough right now! I also think you may not want to -- and understand the risk, which is why you are looking for answers -- so trust your gut and say "not yet." Here are some facts to support my opinion: a female's cervix is still "soft" until she is about 18, making it easier to get "damaged," and easier for a girl to get sexually transmitted infections. In addition, you are not using a form of birth control -- and are likely to get pregnant -- which would change the course of your life forever. In addition, the younger you start having sex, the mosre likely you are to get pregnant and a sexually transmitted infection. I know this sounds dramatic, but this is a huge choice and most girls wish they had waited!
