    Question

MY BOYFRIEND SMOKES MARIJUANA LIKE EVERYDAY, WHENEVER HE DOESN'T HAVE SOMETHING TO DO. WE TALK ABOUT HIM SMOKING AND HES CUT IT DOWN BUT LATELY HE HAS CONTINUED INTO HIS SAME OLD HABITS. WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP HIM?? I NEED SOMETHING OTHER THAN REHAB CAUSE HE WONT GO TO THAT.

    Answer

Dear Teen Smoking marijuana can easily become a daily habit that is hard to break. It sounds like you have let your boyfriend know about your concern, but he is not ready to stop. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to make him stop using. He must decide for himself because he can see the negative side effects. If he won't go to Rehab maybe he would be willing to talk with some friends who have been to a program or quit smoking and find out how they did it. Some teens are willing to attend one group just to check out the program and find it is a great way to get support. In the meantime continue to express your concern about the negative side effects of the drug and don't ride in the car with anyone who is under the influence of marijuana.
