Hearst Center for Health Education
When the Palo Alto Medical Foundation launched its capital campaign for the new campus in 1995, a major gift from the Hearst Foundation named the Hearst Center for Health Education. Today, the Hearst Center provides space for meetings with community agencies on partnership projects, continuing medical education programs for physicians, and a community lecture series sponsored by the PAMF Office of Philanthropy and the Education Division. Lectures are presented on a full spectrum of health topics. A general lecture series educates people about health issues ranging from asthma, back pain and weight management, to cardiovascular health and pulmonary disease. A separate lecture series covers topics of special interest to seniors, including Alzheimer's disease, arthritis, hearing loss and osteoporosis. All lectures are free and open to the public, and are an important part of the Education Division's ongoing efforts to keep community members informed about health issues affecting themselves and their families. Other offerings include support groups, prenatal classes, stress management courses, and chronic disease management programs.
