Reflections on Giving:
PAMF 2000 Annual Report

Introduction

Those who give to the Palo Alto Medical Foundation do so for many reasons. Some give in memory of loved ones. Others give to support advances in medical science, or to fund new facilities and technologies. Still others give of their time, sharing knowledge and providing support. While each gift conveys the spirit of charity, many also reflect remembrance of the past and hope for the future.

For every gift made to the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, many lives are touched. Patients benefit from better methods for diagnosis and treatment of disease. Researchers gain access to new technologies. Physicians are provided with facilities and equipment to enhance quality of care. Indeed, each gift that flows in from our community flows back out to our community in the form of improved care and delivery of services. This ongoing exchange of mutual support not only enriches our own work, but it also brings real value to the lives of the people we serve.

With this annual report, we offer reflections on giving: from donors, patients, physicians and many others in our community who recognize that the gift of health is the most precious gift of all.
