Dr. Russel Lee, who had retired but still saw patients, "used to come over to my office in the mornings about 11 and say, ‘What are you doing for lunch, Johnny?’" said retired Clinic Executive Administrator John R. Johnson. "And I’d say, ‘I haven’t any plans.’ He’d say, ‘Could you drive me to the city? I’ve got to make a speech at the St. Francis Hotel.’ So we’d get in the car and I’d drive him and just about 10 minutes before we got to the hotel, Russ pulls an envelope out of his pocket and writes down about four words. That was his speech. And he got up and he mesmerized the crowd. Just unbelievable, that kind of a guy."
