Leadership in Medicine
The quality of colleagues and their dedication to the medical profession, their patients and their community are factors cited repeatedly by physicians who have chosen the Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group (aligned with the Palo Alto Medical Foundation) as their career destination.
A basic, underlying pride and satisfaction permeate the daily operations of the multispecialty group practice that has served the community since the 1930s, when the Palo Alto Medical Clinic was created. From its inception, it has been dedicated to the idea that physicians should provide care for the full range of medical and health needs of the community -- it was one of the few group practices founded by an internist, as opposed to being a specialty-referral group that added primary care physicians later.
On January 1, 2008, the Palo Alto Medical Clinic, Camino Medical Group and Santa Cruz Medical Clinic joined to form a single medical group, the Palo Alto Medical Foundation Medical Group. Today, the Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group provides services to the Palo Alto Medical Foundation under a contractual relationship with the not-for-profit umbrella organization. A close-knit collegiality, which some physicians and staff members have called a "family feeling," remains despite the organizations' growth over the years.
