Nurse Navigators
Dealing with all the new emotions and decisions surrounding your diagnosis can be overwhelming. To help you through this process, a PAMF Nurse Navigator is available to you to help explain your options or just to listen and be at your side.
Nurse navigators are liaisons between you, your doctors and your family. They know that your health and peace of mind are also an important part of your treatment. They are patient educators and advocates, care coordinators, system navigators and have a goal of improving you cancer care experience. Research has shown that having a Nurse Navigator during treatment allows patients to better focus on healing -- and they are empowered knowing that an advocate is on their side.
Your nurse navigator will:
- Facilitate your recovery and rehabilitation planning -- before, during and after treatment
- Help you make informed decisions about your care, serving as your educator, advocate
and guide - Coordinate your appointments with medical team members and facilitate your communications with physicians
- Teach you and your family members to manage side effects
- Provide you and your family with support services -- including emotional support
