    Breastfeeding - Secrets for Success (Fremont)

    Designed to provide expectant parents with the knowledge and tools to get breastfeeding off to the right start, topics will cover: prenatal preparation; how to survive the first week; how to know if baby is taking enough milk; how to avoid problems; how to ensure a great supply; reading your baby's feeding signals - a guide to baby talk.     Breastfeeding - Secrets for Success (Palo Alto)

    Taught by Joanna Koch, our experienced lactation consultant, this class will provide expectant parents with the knowledge and strategies they need to get breastfeeding off to the right start. Partners are encouraged to attend. Once a month either Thursdays, 7 to 9 p.m. or Saturdays, 10 a.m. to noon. Fee: $40.

    Breastfeeding Class (Santa Cruz)

    In this class we will help you prepare for the early days of breastfeeding by going over the basics as well as what to do after the first week and beyond. We will cover use of a breast pump and expressing and storing milk. Cost: $30.00.

    CPR - Infant & Child (Mountain View)

    Learn to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in both infants and children up to 8 years old. This hands-on class uses both infant and child manikins to teach both infant and child CPR. No certification is given for this class. Fee: $40 per couple.

    CPR - Infant Emergencies & CPR (Mountain View)

    Learn basic infant emergency care and participate in hands-on practice for Infant CPR. Learn who to call and what to do for many common infant emergencies situations. Learn to identify when a situation involving an infant becomes life-threatening. No certification is given for this class. Fee: $45 per couple.

    Essential Expectant Dad (Santa Cruz)

    Bruce Block, M.D., a pediatrician and dad, invites soon-to-be dads to join him for a realistic, informative discussion about your upcoming "Life with Baby." Topics include what happens at the hospital, infant sleeping and feeding, how to choose a pediatrician and much more. Class fee: Free. Pre-registration is required.

    Feeding Your Young Child (Mountain View)

    This two-hour interactive class is based on the work of Ellyn Satter, MS, RD, family therapist and feeding specialist. This class is for parents of children 1-5years interested in making sure they are raising a healthy eater. Topics covered include children's eating patterns, feeding dynamics, nutritional needs and tips for making meal times more fun. Class Fee: $26 per couple

    Feeding Your Young Child (Santa Cruz)

    Ages 1 - 3 years These classes cover the parent's role in establishing eating patterns for their children. The dietitians focus on principles established by pediatric feeding specialist, Ellyn Satter. Please do not bring children to class. Class fee: $26. Pre-registration required.

    Infant Care (Mountain View)

    This single session, two hour class will teach you the basics for a great start to caring for your new baby. Topics covered in this class include normal infant behavior and development, bathing, swaddling, sleep patterns, and reading and responding to your baby's cues. This is a basic class for those with little or no experience with babies. Class Fee: $30 per couple

    Infant Care (Santa Cruz)

    In this class you will learn about Normal Infant Care Behavior; Sleep wake cycles; reading and responding to your baby's cues; swaddling, comforting, bathing and diapering. We will cover health and saftey as well as selecting appropriate products and equipment for your baby. Cost: $30.00.

    Introduction to Solids (ages birth to 1 year) (Mountain View)

    This 1.5 hour interactive class is based on the work of Ellyn Satter, MS, RD, family therapist and feeding specialist. This class is for parents of children, birth to 12 months. Topics covered include when to start solids and what and how to feed a child. Children are welcome in this class. Class Fee: $26

    Mother-Baby Circle: For Babies 0-6 months

    Nothing quite prepares you for the birth of your baby or the joys and challenges it can bring; that’s why we created this weekly support group. Here new parents are invited to share their concerns, exchange ideas, and get questions answered, while developing new connections and friendships. Class Fee: $45 per month.

    New Parent ABC’s – All about Baby Care (Palo Alto)

    Ready or not, here comes baby! This two-week class series will help you navigate the amazing transition to parenthood. You'll get hands-on practice in baby care, a guided tour of essential baby equipment and learn a lot about babies in the process. Mondays, twice a month, 7 to 9 p.m. Fee: $55.

    Sibling Preparation (Santa Cruz)

    This class is designed to include children ages 3 to 8 in preparing for the new baby. Children will learn about what to expect when Mom brings the new baby home and how they can help. Class activities will enhance childrens' understanding of their role in the family and allow them to feel like a participant when baby arrives. Class Fee: $25 first child, $10 each additional child per family.

    What to Expect with Your Newborn (Redwood Shores)

    Learn about normal newborn appearance and behavior as well as soothing techniques from one of our Redwood City Pediatricians. After the presentation several of our physicians will be available for a Q&A session about everything newborn as well as how the pediatrics department works, what happens in the hospital and what to look for in the first few weeks with baby. Held in our Redwood Shores office. Class Fee: Free. more
