Preparing for Birth -- A Refresher

Class Overview:

Families who are expecting their second or more child are often in need of a "brush-up" course -- to help them renew the skills of working with their labor. If it`s been a few years since your last birth experience, or if your family is new to the area, the Refresher class will bring them up to date on the current policies of Stanford Hospital and new trends in child delivery and pain management. This class offers "just the basics" and is only suitable for those who have previously been through a comprehensive childbirth program. Also covered:

  • Labor and delivery -- when it`s your second.
  • How is it different?
  • When to go to the hospital?
  • What about my older child? Proper care, ideas and support.
  • Labor and delivery management: options and plans.
  • Breathing and relaxation skills.
  • Comfort measures for birth.
  • VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) if needed.
