Operation Connect Keeps Kids in Touch

When a child is seriously ill, battling a disease or recuperating from major surgery, they stay home from school. They miss class work as well as social contact. In every school year, dozens of young students can be isolated by long-term illness.

Being out of school for so long and away from classmates is challenging for young children, so the Palo Alto Medical Foundation donated money to "Operation CONNECT" in Fremont Unified School District for the purchase of laptops. This program allows home- and hospital-bound students to participate in class and see their classmates via the laptop's closed-circuit video camera.
