Dr. Mats Hagstrom joined the Department of Plastic Surgery in 2004. He received his M.D degree from Boston University School of Medicine in 1993 after attending Stanford University and San Francisco State University. He completed his plastic surgery internship and residency at the University of California, Irvine.

Dr. Hagstrom is board certified in plastic surgery. He also serves as a key resource to many hospitals and clinic committees.

Dr. Hagstrom is trained in performing all types of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. He specializes in abdominoplasty, body contouring and fat grafting. Dr. Hagstrom also has specialized training in all types of breast surgery. He is especially dedicated to working with patients with breast cancer. Dr. Hagstrom practiced at the Breast Care Center in Southern California where he performed all types of breast surgeries for various breast disorders.

Dr. Hagstrom grew up on the Peninsula and graduated from Palo Alto High School. He is an experienced chef and worked at various restaurants in the Bay Area while attending medical school. He is also a vintner/winemaker who owns a local winery called "Travieso". Dr. Hagstrom continues to enjoy wine, cooking and cycling.
