Philosophy of Care
I am originally from Virginia, growing up in the suburbs of Washington DC. I attended college at Stanford University where I majored in Human Biology and graduated with Phi Beta Kappa honors. After college, I returned back East for medical school at the University of Virginia (UVA), where I also completed my internship and residency training in internal medicine. During my residency, I became interested in public health issues and pursued a Master's of Public Health (MPH) degree at UVA as well. As part of my MPH, I conducted research on the management of chronic diseases in the uninsured population. In my spare time, I volunteered at a free medical clinic for indigent patients in Charlottesville.
After completing my MPH, my husband and I moved to the Bay area in pursuit of the warm weather, cultural diversity, good food and plentiful outdoor activities in the area! In our spare time, we enjoy trying new cuisines, traveling and spending time with our daughter.
I chose the field of internal medicine because I enjoy my role in educating and counseling my patients in addition to addressing their preventive and acute medical needs. I see my role as a physician as being a partner with my patients in helping them achieve better health. As a primary care physician, having the opportunity to develop long term relationships with my patients is truly a privilege. I look forward to being a part of your health care team!
