Philosophy of Care
I have lived in the Bay Area since my early teens. I attended Mercy High School in Burlingame and graduated from Stanford University with an undergraduate degree in biological sciences (with honors and distinction). I received my medical degree from the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) and my Master of Science Degree in Public Health from the University of California at Berkeley (U.C. Berkeley). I conducted my residency in pediatrics at UCSF.
I was married right after high school. After I had my first daughter, I began my undergraduate studies. I started medical school when she started kindergarten! My younger daughter was born 12 years later. My eldest is now a junior at U.C. Berkeley, studying languages and premedical sciences. She also graduated from Mercy High School. I give thanks to my husband and parents with helping me reach my goals.
I am very involved in my children's school/college activities and organizations. I am still in touch with my high school and talk to the students about medicine on the school's "Career Day" each year.
I served on the board of directors for Youth and Family Enrichment Services (YFES) of San Mateo County. I am currently involved in quality improvement projects at PAMF, such as the Asthma Project, South Asian Web Site and the Quality Improvement Steering Committee (QISC).
Each year I travel to a rural village in Pakistan, where I conduct volunteer work and developed and started an immunization clinic. I am also in the process of developing an electronic database of patients and their basic medical records.
I enjoy traveling and family time -- in whatever spare time I have left (which is not much)!
