Drug Safety Communication about Azithromycin - Risk of Potentially Fatal Heart Rhythms

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning about azithromycin, a commonly used antibiotic that can cause abnormal heart rhythms, although the risk is very low. The product names are Zithromax or Zmax. If you have arrhythmias or Long QT Syndrome, your physician can select alternate treatment option to azithromycin.
