    Salwan AbiEzzi, M.D.

Salwan “Sal” AbiEzzi, M.D., was born and raised in the wine producing mountainous city of Zahle, Lebanon, emigrated to the USA in 1983, and went to high school in North Andover, Massachusetts. He did his undergraduate education at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, majoring in Biology with two minors in Human Psychology and Computer Science, graduating magna cum laude at age 19.

Dr. AbiEzzi graduated from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine in 1993 and completed a two-year post-doctoral research fellowship in Orthopedic Surgery. With his keen interest in improving health through fitness and mobility, his research focused on advancing our medical knowledge of the healing properties of the human knee as it relates to injury and aging.

He completed his internship at the University of California, San Francisco and his residency in Internal Medicine at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, with additional training at Stanford University Hospital.

Following his residency, Dr. AbiEzzi joined the Palo Alto Medical Clinic in 1999 where he practices General Internal Medicine with an additional interest in Diabetes and Sports Medicine. San Jose Magazine and the nonprofit Consumers’ Checkbook Magazine have recognized Dr. AbiEzzi on several occasions on their list of the “Best Doctors” in the Bay Area.

Dr. AbiEzzi’s philosophy of care can be summed up in the PAMF community lecture he gave in January 2011 titled "The Anatomy of Healthy Living". Here he defined the Four Pillars of Healthy Living: Diet, Exercise, Sleep and Avoiding Stress. He believes that his ability to keep his patients healthy and to treat whatever illness or medical problem arises is enhanced when focusing on these four pillars.

Dr. AbiEzzi lives in Belmont with his wife and four children. The AbiEzzis enjoy hiking, swimming, skiing and traveling. Dr AbiEzzi also enjoys coaching his children’s soccer teams.
