Henry W. Jones III, M.D.

Henry Jones hails from a family of dedicated physicians, including his father, two of his four brothers, his maternal grandparents and several great-uncles. Born in Baltimore and raised in Newton, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston, Dr. Jones gained a healthy respect for the practice of medicine from a very young age.

Dr. Jones graduated from the University of Virginia Medical School in 1974 and completed his internship and residency at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. He went on to do two fellowships: one in nephrology at Stanford University School of Medicine, and another in general internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

After completing his studies, Dr. Jones moved west in 1980 and spent eight years at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Santa Clara, first as Assistant Director, and then as Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. In 1988, he joined the Stanford Medical Group, a group of internists at Stanford Hospital focused on both the practice and teaching of medicine. In 1992, Dr. Jones joined the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, where he practices general internal medicine.

Dr. Jones is a Clinical Adjunct Professor of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine and is active in teaching undergraduate medical students and residents. In 1996, Dr. Jones was honored with the Russell V. Lee Teaching Award. From 1985 to 1999, Dr. Jones served on the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association and the Medical Society of Santa Clara County.

Dr. Jones lives in Palo Alto and has two daughters. Every Friday, rain or shine, he goes out sailing -- a lifelong passion that began in his youth when he sailed on the Charles River as part of Boston's Community Boating program.
