Otolaryngology (ENT) differs from many other specialties in that doctors are trained both in medicine and surgery. Otolaryngologists (ENT doctors) can treat conditions with medication or other therapies, as well as perform ear, nose, throat, or head/neck surgery without having to refer patients to a surgeon.
