Pediatric Vision Services for the Underserved
Studies over the past 25 years confirm that untreated vision problems in children can not only result in poor school performance and social problems, but also negatively impact the quality of life of children and their families, and even place a burden on public health resources.
In 2011, we know at least 10,000 children (ages 14 and under) in Santa Clara County did not receive the essential services they needed to prevent and treat eye disease.
Now that we have a better understanding of the need in our community, PAMF is committed to providing free vision care to medically underserved children—beginning with the Sunnyvale School District.
With your support we can ensure all children, especially those who are uninsured, are assessed and treated for potential eye and vision problems prior to entering school and throughout the school years.
