Teen Lifestyle Balance: Obesity Management and Prevention in Primary Care
Childhood obesity has become a national health crisis in the U.S. More than one-third of children and adolescents are overweight or obese, according to 2010 data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Through this initiative, the PAMF Research Institute will pilot an adolescent, group-based, weight management intervention program targeted at overweight and obese adolescents ages 14 to 17, using web-based technology to engage participants. The goal is to keep these adolescents healthier and lower their risk factors for developing diabetes or cardiovascular disease as adults.
Sutter Health, the non-profit parent company to PAMF, will match up to $100,000 in philanthropic gifts given in 2014.
