What Affects the Test
Reasons you may not be able to have the test or why the results may not be helpful include:
- Taking medicines, such as Reference corticosteroids Opens New Window, Reference estrogens Opens New Window, male sex Reference hormones Opens New Window (called Reference androgens Opens New Window), growth hormone, or Reference insulin Opens New Window.
- Injuries or infections.
- Prolonged bed rest, such as during a hospital stay.
- A long-term (chronic) illness, especially if the disease interferes with what you are able to eat or drink.
- Being pregnant.
