Breastfeeding Help for You and Your Baby

Breastfeeding is the ultimate gift a woman can give her baby. However, nursing a baby is sometimes much harder than mothers imagine. New mothers often find that breastfeeding is not an instinctive process. They need help keeping their baby nourished and satisfied, and may not know where to turn.

The Lactation Department at PAMF Dublin can help each mother in a private consultation that delivers competent, professional and kind care throughout their breastfeeding experience. Our philosophy is to meet each mother's breastfeeding goals.

The program can assist a new mother with breastfeeding basics such as:

• Positioning and latch
  
• Feeding cues
  
• Prevention or treatment of nipple damage
  
• Nutrition for moms
  
• Improving milk production

We also offer information and support past the first few weeks of your newborn's life.
About Appointments

• We provide individual one-hour appointments (which include two follow-ups) for a fee.
  
• Check with your insurance company for reimbursement.
  
• PAMF also has a Prompt-Pay program for cash paying patients.

Consultation Hours

• Monday through Friday (fee based)
  
• A Mother's Place support group is held Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (no fee, drop-in)
  
• Lactation advice line for nonurgent questions is monitored Monday through Friday before 4 p.m. Call 925-875-6223 (no fee)

Consultants:
The lactation consultant is a registered nurse who has more than 30 years working with breastfeeding mothers.

• Cheryl Dronkers, R.N., BSN, IBCLC - over 30 years of experience working with breastfeeding mothers.
