    Checking Heart Rate

Follow the directions below to count your radial pulse.

    • Turn one palm face up.
    • Slide two fingers of your other hand down from the base of your hand about one inch.
    • Move toward the outside of your wrist (towards the thumb) until your fingers sink into the groove between the bone and tendons of the wrist.
    • Press lightly and count the number of throbs you feel for 15 seconds.
    • Multiply this number by 4 to get the heart rate in "beats per minute."
