After a hip resurfacing procedure, you can expect to be on standard hip precautions for about 12 weeks. This includes:

  • No flexing over 90 degrees
  • No crossing the operative leg across the midline
  • No internal rotation
Your physical therapist in the hospital and at home will show you how to move safely and efficiently while under these precautions.

After consulting with your surgeon, you may be able to return to previous activities such as skiing, cycling, kickboxing and weight lifting.
