Medical Team
Hospitalists are acute-care specialist physicians who manage your care in the hospital. They communicate with your primary care physician (PCP) and share information concerning your care and progress during your stay.
Usually trained in internal medicine, family medicine or pediatrics, hospitalists have the skills and expertise needed to provide care specifically tailored to meet the unique needs of hospitalized patients and their families. They are often more familiar with the hospital's system and functions and have a greater understanding in caring for hospitalized patients on a daily basis.
Hospitals are their primary site, thus making them more available throughout the day to spend time with you and your family members, follow-up on tests and be there in case any problems occur. At the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, our hospitalists strive to provide you with the finest care during your hospital stay.
