Yichieh Shiuey, M.D.
Dr. Shiuey is one of the few surgeons performing laser vision correction that has received formal fellowship training in both refractive surgery (surgery to correct focusing errors in the eye) and the cornea (the clear covering of the eye on which all laser vision correction procedures are performed).
After completing his undergraduate degree with summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa honors from Columbia University in New York, Dr. Shiuey received his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. He completed his residency training in Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School, where he also served as an instructor and associate chief of the Harvard Medical School Department of Ophthalmology, as well as director of its Eye Trauma Service.
Dr. Shiuey left Harvard when he was awarded the prestigious Heed Fellowship to pursue advanced clinical and research training in laser vision correction and corneal surgery at the Moran Vision Center of the University of Utah, one of the world's premier institutions for eye surgery.
A frequent lecturer on the subject of laser vision correction at national meetings, Dr. Shiuey has written more than 50 scientific journal articles and book chapters. A board-certified ophthalmologist, he scored in the top 1 percent of all ophthalmologists that have taken the board certification exam.
Dr. Shiuey speaks conversational Mandarin and Taiwanese.
