What is PAMF's Care-A-Van?
PAMF's Care-A-Van is a mobile medical unit that brings our first class health care services directly to you - right to your workplace. This means that when the Care-A-Van is at your work location, you can make an appointment to see a doctor when it's most convenient for you.
What types of health care services does the Care-A-Van offer?
Our Care-A-Van has two exam rooms and an expert care team on board who offer services including annual physical exams, care for basic health issues, test result counseling, lab services and vaccinations.
Can I use PAMF's Care-A-Van services?
Contact your Human Resources Benefits team to find out whether you can use our mobile medical services.
Can my family receive care in the Care-A-Van?
Check with your company's Human Resources Benefits team to learn whether your adult dependants can see a doctor in our Care-A-Van. We are not able to see pediatric patients at this time.
Is the care I receive in the Care-A-Van recorded in my electronic health record?
Yes. The doctors and nurses who care for you in our Care-A-Van have access to your electronic health record. Any care, immunizations or lab tests you receive in the Care-A-Van will be documented in your electronic health record.

Will I have to change my primary care doctor?
No. You can keep seeing your chosen PAMF primary care doctor and receive care in our Care-A-Van. We will let your doctor know about any care you receive through our Care-A-Van team, so he or she is up-to-date on your health.
What does it cost to use the Care-A-Van services?
A Care-A-Van medical visit costs the same as a regular office visit at PAMF and will be billed to your insurance in the same way. Your share of the cost depends on your health insurance.
How long is a Care-A-Van appointment usually?
Our Care-A-Van appointments are approximately the same length as a usual visit to your primary care doctor: 20 minutes for a basic health issue, 40 minutes for an annual physical.
How do I make an appointment for the Care-A-Van?
You can call 650-853-6798 to schedule your Care-A-Van appointment. Please let the receptionist know what company you work for and that you are scheduling an appointment to see a doctor in the Care-A-Van mobile clinic.
Can I access the Care-A-Van in a wheelchair?
Yes. PAMF's Care-A-Van is wheelchair-accessible.
Will my employer be notified if I use the Care-A-Van services?
No, all health care visits in the Care-A-Van are completely private and confidential.
What if I need a prescription?
Our Care-A-Van doctors can order prescriptions for you - in the same way as during a regular office visit. You can then pick up your prescription at your usual pharmacy.
What insurance does PAMF accept?

Can I use the Care-A-Van for labs?
If lab work is part of your Care-A-Van visit, then it will be done during your scheduled appointment. Currently we are not accepting outside PAMF MD lab requests. For further questions regarding labs, please stop by the Care-A-Van at your employer location.
Can I come to the Care-A-Van for lab tests if I have a lab order from a doctor outside of PAMF?
No. If the lab test was requested by a doctor who is not part of PAMF, we are not able to perform this service in the Care-A-Van. To have lab tests done in the Care-A-Van, you must get a lab order from a PAMF doctor. To obtain your lab test you can:
- Schedule an appointment for the Care-A-Van (or any other PAMF clinic location) and the PAMF doctor can provide you with an order for appropriate lab tests. You can then have your lab tests done in the Care-A-Van.
- Seek services at a lab that accepts your doctor’s lab test order.
