Philosophy of Care
Since her work as a contraceptive educator during college at UC Berkeley, Dr. Jackie Fletcher has felt a particular affinity towards providing medical care for women. Medical school at UCSF only confirmed that decision, OB/Gyn has proven to be the right fit for her. Dr. Fletcher is board certified and has been practicing in Burlingame since 1998. While she has always enjoyed providing general gynecologic care, she especially likes helping women and teens better understand their contraceptive choices, helping women with menstrual irregularities, and working with women during their important transition into menopause. Dr. Fletcher feels passionately about educating and empowering women about their bodies, the changes within their bodies that occur throughout life, and their health care in general. She believes in having her patients be partners in their healthcare decision-making. She attends academic gynecology educational conferences regularly to stay current on changing and emerging topics in women's healthcare. She believes in the importance of a careful attention to detail in medicine, and takes the time to sort through sometimes complex details to work towards an optimal approach for an individual patient's medical care. Dr. Fletcher has always enjoyed providing obstetric care during both low-risk and high-risk pregnancies, but as a mother of two she now particularly relishes the special bond that is formed when she has the opportunity to follow a woman through her prenatal course. She attends a week-long perinatal medicine conference annually, so that she can stay up to date on high-risk issues that are sometimes identified prior to pregnancy, and others that sometimes unexpectedly emerge during a pregnancy.
